North PLainfield would be a lovely commuter town serving NYC if the NJTrains weren't delayed by 20 or more minutes at least 2 or 3x per week. Commuters who move there leave. Anybody know what the future holds for NJTransit and its problems? Great trains would probably double the value of homes !

Now it's November, 2008 -- it was better for a few months but now delays (828 am and returning on the 724) are almost every day. And the alerts are only about 30% accurate. NJ Transit still blaming most delays on "Conrail" (rolls eyes). There are some new double decker cars though so at least the delays home are a bit more comfortable -- although we are giving up on buying in this area, since we are renters still.

Actually a fair amount of the delays come from the Conrail shared track, but the earlier you commute, the fewer delays you encounter---now that I take a 653 am train from Pfield, I very rarely encounter delays---when I took the 828, I ran into them about once a month. There is an email service from NJTransit that you can use to see delays as well.

HAHA..wait until the new tunnel is built into the city....Fact of life...delays on NJtransit. But its alot better than driving into the city. Just imagine if NYC goes through with the commuter driving "tax". What do you think will happen on NJtransit than?
