How is the commute from Half Moon Bay to Palo Alto/Menlo Park (say Stanford Shopping Center)?

The commute is not a 'breeze' but it is quite doable (Karen Tobin is a realtor and obviously does not commute every day to Palo Alto). Average time would be perhaps 30 minutes with no traffic, 40 minutes with traffic going to work, a little longer coming home.

Many in Half Moon Bay commute much further (San Jose, Oakland), not that it is desirable...

The commute is a breeze! Probably about 40 minutes. There is some commuter traffic on Hiway 92 and also you might hit some on Page Mill road. The commuters around here usually plan their commutes to miss heavy traffic times, like when parents are driving their children to school. I usually advise interested home buyers to stay on the coast a few days and try the commute themselves.

If you decide to make a move, let me know if I can help you - rent or buy.

It might be a bit long, 92 is a windy road and all your other ways out to the north and south are pretty far also. Also, everything depends on what time you are commuting. I would like to say it is at least 30 minutes but I think I'm underestimating it by 15 to 30 minutes. It all depends on where you are leaving from and going to exactly.
