Sadly, everybody drives. There isn't really any good public transportation between the beach towns and Los Angeles proper, other than the metro rail in Long Beach, and even that is pretty sketchy and SLOW--even slower than driving yourself on the 405 freeway.

Manhattan Beach owes much of its appeal to a central location. It is close to LAX and about 20-30 minutes from Century City depending on traffic. It is about 30-40 minutes from Downtown LA.. again much depends on traffic.

Interesting. What is the most common transportation method used? Do most people drive their own vehicles or use public transportation?

The best way to get from Manhattan Beach to Century City is to take the 'Secret Route', which is optimized for the North West end of Manhattan Beach (near the El Porto section). Take Highland Blvd north which turns into Vista Del Mar. Go all the way until turning right on Culver Blvd. Go eastbound until turning left on Overland. Here's a handy Google Map that shows the way...

The distance between Manhattan Beach and Century City is about 15 miles. On a good traffic day, you can get there in about 25 minutes but if you hit traffic, it can take you over 1 hour. Here are some general directions.

From Sepulveda Blvd in Manhattan Beach, go east on Rosecrans Ave. Merge right onto the 405 N, exit National Blvd and make a right. Make a left at Sepulveda and right at Olympic, a left at Beverly Glen and a right at Santa Monica Blvd.

Not in terms of distance..but It could take you close to an hour because of morning traffic.

When you Google Map it, Manhattan Beach is 18 miles from Century City. We used to live there and it would take me 40-50 min in the morning to drive to Westwood, which is right next to Century City. You have to do the commute by 8am, otherwise, you will be stuck in traffic on the 405 for over an hour.

27 miles. It can take 40 minutes and up to 2 hours. The 405 is a bear no matter the day or time.
