Dear Ann,
Welcome! As you have read, we have many ways to get to many places. It all depends on what works best for your husband. You can drive and park or carpool in. You can take the bus to various locations. Or you can go by train. All depends on your husbands final destination and time of day to commute.
My best recommendation is to do your homework looking up the MTA schedule for the trains and the Red and Tan Lines Bus schedule. Determine the best route for your dear hubby and call to confirm current pricing.
If I can be of service in any way, please do not hesitate to call on me.
Sincerely,

Hi Ann - Welcome to Pearl River,"The Town of Friendly People" - my wife & I moved up here 8 years ago from Brooklyn and we love it. For the first 5 years, I still was working in Mid-town NY by Radio City Music Hall. I found the best way for me was to take the train into Hoboken, then transfer to the PATH, which deposited me at 6th & 33rd, If the weather was cooperating and I felt energetic, I had an 18 block walk otherwise I hopped on a NY subway train for 2 quick stops and I was almost right in my building. The cost - monthly ticket for NJT train to Hoboken is currently $215 a month. PATH costs $52 for 40 trip ticket - one thing to look into is the Transitchek program - it is usually adminstered through your company and you can save money by paying for your commutation cost with pre-tax money effectively lowering your tax burden.
How your husband commutes will be determined by where he is working - besides the train - which can also leave you at Secaucus Junction to transfer for a train into Penn Station (7th Ave & 33rd St) or you can take the bus into the Port Authority at 8th Ave & 41nd St.. I hope this info helps.

Hi Ann,
It is more convient for your husbend to take the train in to Manhattan from Pearl RIver but it is probably cheaper to take the bus into the city. If you would like to check the schedules and prices out you can look at my web site chrispowers.randrealty.com and I have links to the bus and train schedules and prices. Thanks for the question if I can help you in any other way please feel free to contact me.

Best Regards,

Hi Ann,
Welcome to Rockland County. The least expensive way to travel by train is to take the Pascack Valley line which does stop in Pearl River. If your husband works dowtown, he can ride all the way to Hoboken --maybe 40 minutes if he gets the express train or an hour if he is on the local train. From Hoboken New Jersey, he can take the PATH train over to Manhattan--there is PATH line that goes downtown and there is one that goes up to Midtown. Alternatively, if he works in midtown, he could change trains at Pascack Junction for a train that goes directly into midtown near 34th street. I commuted on this train for many years.

Hello Ann, Hope all is well. Just recently(30 days) sold a home to a couple who are both commuting to Manhattan. Train station will take you into Hoboken in about 40 minutes and from their you take the Tube into Manhattan. Should take roughly an hours time. If you have not already purchased a home, and need help with all the available listings, please get in touch with me, and I will send you ANY listings that pertain to your criteria. I am an Accredited Buyers Representative(ABR) as well. Look forward to hearing from you. Regards Allan
