Oh good point Debbie, train station parking is definitely a consideration. Denville has a large parking lot but not sure on the wait list. I can walk to Morris Plains station so I forget about parking!

In order to obtain a permit to park at the Morris Plains train station , you'd have to live in Morris Plains.

That's one of the "tricky" things about wanting to take the train into Manhattan - you need to live in the town in order to park (and hope there isn't a wait list) town that has a NJ Transit run lot does not require you to live in the town, but..........there is often a multi-year waiting list.

I sold a townhome in Parsippany and the buyer wanted to take the train from Morris Plains - she was able to buy a weekday spot at a church parking lot 3 blocks from the station - they had just decided to sell spaces at $100 a month (this was 3 years ago) there can be creative ways to find parking!

Good luck!

Why don't just illegally park somewhere? That's really creative!

Ann is correct... also, the Morris Plains Train Station is a couple of stops closer to New York Penn Station. For more info:

It is about 7 miles to the Denville Train Station, and about 4 miles to the Morris Plains Station. It takes a little over an hour to get to Manhatten by train.
