trulia launched rentals yesterday, so now you can just click the rental tab at the top and get amazing local data as well maps, and the largest inventory of any apartment website. Along with the rentals we have some great features like keyword search, amenity filters, as well as multiple location search - a great way to compare listings and pricepoints. As usual we have awesome map searches too. The listing pages also have info from Yelp about local restaurants, nightlife and more. It really is something to check out.

This site has interactive maps and you can also filter by areas price range. Many of the postings are linked to Craigslist and it's easy to tell if there are photos associated with the rental.

Craigslist or checking for rentals would be your best choices in my opinion. Few people know that you can find rentals on will show rentals that are listed by Realtors and there are very little, if any, fraudulent entries. Craigslist, as well as other sites, you have to be very careful and do your due diligence before providing a potential landlord with any of your personal information. In either case, make certain that the landlord is the actual owner of the property and the property is not in default before handing over your hard earned cash. Stay well away from any rent-to-own or lease-to-own scenarios where the "owner" may ask for a large deposit or increased rent in exchange for future equity or ownership opportunity. MANY of those are very shady at best. Good luck in your search!

I agree with Pam, craigslist has lot of rental postings every day and is quite useful. But there are hundreds of other rental sites that have listings different from craigslist.

You can find them at:

Ted, great info. Looks like Craigslist and Google joined forces on that one. Leave it to the good folks at Google to make just about anything...just a little better....and free. Thanks!
