While calling 3 realtors and interviewing them is a decent idea, remember that often times the way that an agent works with you is how they sell your home. Make sure they're not used to business falling on their lap, instead go with the agent that finds you.
Susan, while it appears that an emerging business model enables a seller to do the listing for herself and then use the realtor for marketing, negotiation and handling all of the contractual issues, it's still not easy to get that done.
You might try mlslistings.com. There is NO question but that the house will sell better if it's on MLS. If you have the savvy to create a marketing plan with the new business models in mind, go for it. But I don't think having a house marked as a FSBO gets much done.
My suggestion would be the interview three Realtors in your area. Check with family and friends for referrals if you do not know any personally. They should provide you with recent comparables, a market plan on what the will do to get your home sold and ask about their experience and track record. Good luck.
If you are looking to sell your home, interview 3 local Realtors and ask them for a listing presentation. How do you find a local Realtor? Family, friends, neighborhood signs, etc. They should me able to outline a marketing strategy for getting your home sold, as well as provide comps to help detrmine the appropriate price.
