Section 8 will stop paying the landlord if the house does not pass the yearly inspection. The rental payment doesn't begin until the home passes a follow up inspection. This process gives some landlords the wrong impression about the program. You're best bet is to know exactly what your total rent can be based on your voucher(sometimes the voucher can include utilities). Then, put together a solid application that has your rental history and work history. When you speak with landlords, explain to them the process of making their house eligible for section 8.
