Questions about property management companies in northwest Indiana.

I'm considering renting my 2000 sq ft, 3 bed 2-1/2 bath home out since the market is so flat now. I moved out of state, so I can't realistically be a landlord. I think the house would rent for about $1500 / month.

What should I consider a reasonable fee for a property management company? Can anyone recommend dependable and trustworthy companies in the area or the best way to find them? What key questions should I ask to evaluate potential companies?

First of all I do not recomend renting a home unless you can be close to the home. If you still want to rent the home a typical fee is one months rent or 8-10% of the rent per month. This fee does not include any maintenance, lawn care, snow removal or emergency calls. If it is rented any maintenance should be oked with you and a price set before it is started. The best maintenance company I know of is Managemnt Group LLC

Do a search on the internet. Contact Real Estate Agencies for the area that the home is. About 13 years go, we were transferred (military) and hired a Real Estate company to manage our property until it sold. They charged us a monthly fee based on the rental price and mailed us the rent payments every month. The agency should also give you a good idea as to what it can be rented for in that area. Good Luck.
