If you like shopping and fine dining, you can walk anywhere in downtown Santa Fe. The adjoining Eastside neighborhoods are fun to walk - old adobes, fine gardens, hidden roads and pathways, acequias. Then if you want to really hike, check out the Dale Ball Trails (see city of Santa Fe - trails map), they run in the foothills above the city and St John's College. If you are really tough, hike to the top of Atalaya Mountain, sure to take your breath away. If you head up ski basin road, you will find numerous National Forest Trails to enjoy.

If you are looking for a neighborhood where you can live and walk to amenities including restaurants, the Railyard District would probably appeal to you. There are a number of streets populated with charming casitas and bungalows that are bordered by Guadalupe Street to the east and St. Francis to the west. Included in this area is the farmers market which is active two days a week, numerous restaurants including the Flying Star and the Cow Girl and the Sanbusco shopping center.

Do a search on Google Earth for Cerro Gordo Road. You will see a better picture of road access between Cerro Gordo Road (easy to Santa Fe Plaza) and then to St. John's College off of Old Santa Fe Trail. FYI the property is not for sale. I am not able to verify if it is for rent.

There are walking and biking paths through-out the St. John's college area. The distance is 2.3 miles according to Google Maps.
