It's about 10 miles to Sherman, and there are plenty of good restaurants, such as City Limits, Tuscan Slice, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Fulbelli's, College Street Diner, La Mesa, Kathleen's Kitchen, Carol's Red Apron, Rib Crib, Texas Roadhouse, Cheddar's, Chili's, El Chico, Panera and McAlister's, to name a few. Town Center has shopping and a movie house. There's a new batting cage and golf analyzer inside the Midway Mall next to Burlington. I have driven to Dallas, but usually leave at 9 a.m. to avoid rush hour. It usually takes me about an hour at that time. McKinney has a great downtown for restaurants, shopping, antiquing, music and festivals and its about 25 miles from Howe. Howe is actually pretty centrally located if you need to go to Dallas and also want to take part of all the activities at Lake Texoma and the Sherman area.... more
We manage several homes, duplexes and apartments for lease and the potential is huge in this area. Condition is very important, but we have a lot of requests for rentals that we can not fill due to a lack of available properties. The rural areas around Tom Bean and Howe really need more rentals, as well.... more
I agree with Daniel. Mid-sized town. Has all the usual shopping - Walmart, Target, Kroger, Albertson's, TJ Maxx, Bed, Bath & Beyond, etc. Also all the usual restaurants - Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Cheddar's, Chili's, Applebee's, Starbucks, fast food, etc., along with some locally owned places scattered about. As far as fun - there's a ceramic painting place, a few restaurant's with a bit of night life, like Cellarman's, which is a local college hangout on Texoma Parkway. The pool at Fairview is pretty good and mostly a kid place, but there's a place to swim laps. Midway mall sucks. Most people go there for Dillard's, AE, The Buckle and stuff, but that's pretty much it. Lake Texoma is fun for camping and cruising around in a boat - has lots of trails and boat launches. Sherman is just like everywhere else around here. People go out to eat and shop for something to do, so all those places are busy Friday though the weekend. A lot of folks come in from the surrounding semi-rural and rural locations including from OK to do just that on the weekends. It's more laid back and casual (country) here than it is in the suburbs like McKinney, Allen, Plano, Frisco, etc. If you want a good mall that's the closest in proximity to the area, most people drive to Stonebriar in Frisco. Without traffic slowdowns Dallas is about an hour south of Sherman straight down 75.... more
Maybe you could get some really good references gathered up to present to the landlord. Dealing with a private owner rather than an apartment complex would probably be your best bet. Everyone makes mistakes, somebody will give you a chance and references will help your case.... more

Well to be honest it depends on what part of Sherman you are wanting to move to. There are jobs here and there is some things to do such as shopping, movies, eating, parks, lake texoma is not far. Not sure about elementary schools but middle school was ok and left for high school. Depending on what you are looking to move into might be a little complicated. Some of the people are good and some not so much but you have that any where. hope if you move that its a good experience... more

It sounds like you effectively rejected his addendum with your response. If he has not sent you a termination in writing within the time frame stated on the original contract for option period then you still have a contract with him. I'm assuming the 48 time frame clause you threw on there was meant to void his remaining option time and either move on towards closing or Ed the deal..... On promulgated forms I would check off waves unconditional right to terminate.... more
