The seller usually cannot market the property for sale until you're released from your contract, that's pretty compelling. You're not gonna buy it, so if they really want to sell, they need to release and get it back on the market.
have your agent check to make sure it's not back on the market, might be time for your agent to get his/her broker involved.
Seller is just being a jerk IMO, you should contact an attorney and perhaps have a strongly worded letter sent to the seller.... more
You are lovely to help your parent with homeownership. Have you thought about a duplex, where you will live on one side and your parent on the other side? If you purchase a home for anyone other than your immediate family living with you in the home, you are consider an investor and may need to put twenty percent down to qualify for a mortgage. However, with a duplex, triplex or four-plex, where you live in one of the units, you can qualify as an owner occupant and get in with three or five percent down payment.
