why are there so many free or reduced lunch students at Teasley Elementary School if Vinings is wealthy?

i'm suprised to see so many students on the reduced or free lunch program, over 50%, yet houses in the area are $500k for a 4 bedroom. i'm not from the atlanta area so i'm trying to figure this out.

There are apartment complexes, condos and townhomes that doe feed into Teasley. Vinings (& Smyrna) single family housing prices have gone up considerably, condos not necessarily so much; plus you do have several high profile Private Schools within 15 minutes of the area.

ubehacked,

That's a good question. I'm not sure how to even find out how many students are on the free lunch program.

Not all of the vinings area are affluent neighborhoods. There are also several apartment complexes in this area.
