Consider a visit to the district, ask for a tour of the facility, speak to the superintendent, pricipal, teachers, etc., and ask all your questions, see and hear all firsthand; also see link...

The schools range from a couple of hundred students K-12 (Sharon Springs CSD, Gilboa/Conesville CSD, Jefferson CSD), then you have slightly larger districts with 1000-1500 students K-12 (Schoharie CSD, Middleburgh CSD), and the biggest school district with 2000-2500 students K-12 (Cobleskill/Richmondville CSD).
Our schools prove to be very competitive in academics, advanced placement classes, and athletics. With the budget concerns everyone is going to lose a few things but our parents have enough fight in them to keep what really matters. Our parents won't let classes, arts, and athletics be taken away. That goes for all the school districts, not just CRCSD, the school I pay taxes too.
Compared to other counties in the capital region of New York, we have some of the best school taxes. Saratoga County is the most well known for having the best taxes but Schoharie County properties beat out almost all other areas in the region for taxes. A person can buy more here in this county than the neighboring areas because the taxes are lower.
Hope this info helps. CRCSD has a good football team, Jefferson has had impressive performances in the last 10 years for both boys/girls soccer, Sharon Springs the basketball team always holds its own, Schoharie has 2 strong soccer teams, and Middleburgh has good soccer teams. Cobleskill is the only school that has a football team, the others put their money into soccer and basketball.
