Best in what respect? Test scores, parent/teacher satisfaction? Student spending? As you can see, "best" is a very subjective term. My website provides stats for any public school in NJ. Just go and run searches for the towns you are interested in and you will find a wealth of information.
while you are there, you might want to search for homes, too. The information provided is accurate and up to date, as it is taken from the Monmouth/Ocean County MLS.
All the best to you in your relocating!
Hi Christine - as John points out we are all proud of our schools - for many of us the motivation to move to our communities was quality of school system. Quality is always a bit subjective and so you are best, and we are wise, to guide you to resources where you can do your own research and make your own judgements. There are measureables to give you a good start. The link below will take to a school links - I like the Star Ledger Report Card because it allows you to line up a number of schools which is helpful in making comparisons.

Christine,
You will notice that everybody lives in the best school district -or- moved to a town because of the schools.
Your best bet in this situation is to do your research, find where you want to live first, then check out the schools in the area. You need to actually look at the school reports and come to a conclusion.

Good Luck!
Barnegat twp schools are good, thats ocean county nj.
Real estate in ocean county.info is a good site to find school - home and community information
you do need a location to focus on.
Hi Christine,
SInce you are in Philadelphia, I'm taking a leap in assuming you may want to move to South Jersey. I'd check the NJ School report card site at:
http://education.state.nj.us/rc/rc08/index.html
In my market area, (South Jersey) Moorestown, Haddonfield, Mount Laurel, Cinnaminson would be among some of the top area schools, but there are many great school systems here.
Check out the report card and let me know if you have any further questions or would like to see what type of homes are available within the school district you are looking in.
Good Luck!

There are many to choose from. We chose Basking Ridge (Bernards Township) because of the schools and were not disappointed. In fact the high school earned blue ribbon status, one of only 340 in the country due to consistently high levels of grades and academic excellence
you can go to greatschools.net to compare schhols and find one that works for your needs
if you'd like a tour of Basking Ridge don't hesitate to call me
