I live in Laveen and love it. There's a huge sense of community; lots of community BBQs and meets. My fiance and I both work downtown and love the ease of travel to and from, only about 15 mins and don't have to take any freeways.

I also love Laveen because of it's rural feel. Many people have horses and it's the usual to see one tied up at the corner market. It's a very agriculture friendly and pet friendly area. I'm not sure of the school ratings, I have no children.

Kathy, Laveen is a relatively new area with new homes everywhere, new shopping, eateries, golf courses, parks, close to south mountain for hiking, biking, etc. My suggestion is drive the area and see if you like it. I cannot advise on the schools, but the link below will provide some more information. Hope this helps!

The laws that govern real estate agents do not allow us to directly answer questions that could violate the U.S. Fair Housing Laws and I am afraid yours falls into that category.

However, we can point you to information that you can use to evaluate an area. Regarding schools, I've found that GreatSchools.org has quality information and offers "report cards on the various schools.

Also, the Phoenix police department has a great site that gives you crime stats on any given area. Our site, http://www.buy-a-house-in-phoenix.com, has a link and instructions for using this site. Being a government site, it can be a bit confusing.

Hope this helps a bit... Gene

The answer to that question is very subjective, and unfortunately we are bound by law and the code of ethics not to answer that question.

Many agents will answer that question, but they will only be giving you their personal opinion, or it is very probable that they might just tell you about the areas they work - which might or might not fit your needs. That is one of the reasons why "steering" (and answering that question) is illegal.

I will advice you to work with an agent directly, tell him exactly what you are looking for in terms of location, property size, local amenities, etc... And he should be able to tell you which areas fit your criteria. But a good agent will never label an area as good or bad, or try to steer you to the area they prefer to work.

You are welcome to visit my website where I have an area with some useful links to websites that will provide you with crime data, traffic info, school rankings, etc...

Good luck!
