Choosing an area that best serves the needs of your family is a decision that requires careful consideration and investigation. Both Realtors gave you great advice. I would also recommend that you check out http://www.homefair.com to research area demographics, crime, etc... and http://www.greatschools.org to obtain additional information about schools. Please let me know if I could be of assistance to you. Good luck!
It depends on what you are looking for in a neighborhood...There are many great neighborhoods in the Charlotte area. Everyone has different requirements in a neighborhood. I usually recommend to buyers and renters to go by the neighborhood at different hours of the day. Go by in the morning on a weekend, mid afternoon after the kids get off a school bus and even at night and see what the neighborhood is like.
if you are lookign to see how the schools are then a good website to check out is http://www.ncreportcards.org. This gives you an evaluation of the schools in the area and how they rate in terms of standards set and in comarison ot other schools in the charlotte area.
A great way to decide if a neighborhood is right for you is to go there at various times of the day and night, talk to neighbors to see what is good and bad about it and speak with the local police officer who patrols the area. For more ideas, you can look at the Trulia Blog “How to Choose a Neighborhood - Signs of Good and Bad Neighborhoods†link below. And, if Schools are important in your decision, there is a Truila Blog about schools here http://www.trulia.com/blog/dfisher/2011/08/which_areas_surro If you appreciate an answer, please give "thumbs up".
