The Fletcher School is supposed to be very good... http://www.thefletcherschool.org/

There are some good resources on Charlotte Parent's Special Needs page.

CMS also has resources that may be able to help you.

There used to be Dr. Thompson at Appalachian who was highly recommended to me for my younger son who is now 32, graduated with honors from high school, Chapel Hill undergraduate and graduate school. He is a treasury analyst for a major company and is getting ready to open a new business in Cameron village. He gave me excellent advice. If you would like more discussion, please contact me directly at lhinson@atmc. Don't be discouraged. There is more assistance than you know right now.

In Charlotte that is the Metro School- wonderful school in town. Details are here: http://pages.cms.k12.nc.us/metro/
I've met many of the older students at the Prom, held annually at our church in Matthews. A fine group of teachers are working there.

I would recommend contacting Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools at http://www.cms.k12.nc.us/Pages/Default.aspx - they would be better able to answer your question.
