Hi Jennifer,
the best place to live for you will depend on what you are looking for other than a short commute and Realtors can not legally tell you one place is better than another. For short commutes to Boston you can check Quincy, Milton, Dorchester and a few other places that are neat Boston. You can check this link to get information about schools in any town/city http://profiles.doe.mass.edu. info@wenrealty.com

I would suggest Milton, which has an easy commute to Boston, whether by car or public transportation. Hingham would be another possibility, but only if you are committed to taking the commuter rail--I would not recommend driving. Finally, you might want to consider Braintree. All three have school systems that are well-regarded. For school rankings you could check schooldigger.com, although I personally do not place a lot of stock in school rankings that are based on test scores, since they reflect neither diversity nor creativity.

I think the following towns on the South Shore are easy accessible to Boston and nice: Norwell, Hingham and Hanover. I would put Duxbury and Cohasset on the list as well but they're not close to a highway or Boston.

The best towns on the south shore for both commuting and education are Hingham and Duxbury.

That makes no sense. The commute from Duxbury is terrible! Great town though!

I agree with CH. Also drive around the areas and see how it feels.

Best Of Luck

The South Shore is beautiful. Please contact a local broker in the area or areas of your choice for best results.
