Asked by Stillshopping, San Carlos, CA Sat Jan 31, 2009

Where can I find the assigned public schools for a particular property?
Also, where can I find rankings/API scores, etc. for the local (San Mateo County) schools?
Thank you!

Here's a link with the San Mateo County API Scores:

http://whiteoaksblog.com/2008/09/05/san-mateo-county-2008-ap…

and here's the school boundary for San Carlos:

As Raziel correctly states, each school district has their own websites as well, which are good resources. One important thing to remember is that certain schools may be impacted (there are a couple in San Carlos) so just because you buy into a particular neighborhood doesn't mean you're guaranteed admittance to school district that you're zoned for. Be sure to check before you buy.

Hope this helps!

Stillshopping:

use http://www.greatschools.net

all school districts have web sites,i would consult them to determine actual school boundaries.

but BE AWARE that just because one lives in a particular school attendance area, you might not be able to get your child in that school.

let's talk about White Oaks School in San Carlos where both my boys went.
say White Oaks has room for three 3rd grade classes of 20 - 60 3rd graders total.
if 60 3rd graders are already enrolled - say returning to White Oaks from the prior year, White Oak does not have room for any more 3rd graders; your 3rd grade child would be placed in another school within the district.

hope this makes sense.

i hve lived in san calros since 1986 and love it.

What town(s) are you considering? Some of the districts (like Burlingame's) maintain an easy to use list on their websites, where you just plug in the address and it tells you the assigned school.

Still,

The best resource for this information is the San Mateo County School District. They will be able to provide you with accurate information.
