Where are the best public schools neighborhoods near San Diego. We are currently looking at a home in Ranch Santa Fe.

Asked by Barbara Dubuque Davis, 55364 Wed Aug 14, 2013

We are moving from Minnesota and have children in 4th grade and 9th grade. We really like Rancho Santa Fe, but have not looked at any other areas.
Kindly,
Barb

Hi Barbara, Having lived in the rancho Santa Fe area myself, I can assure you most of those schools are excellent. I can be more specific if you let me know which grade level. We thought very highly of Del Sur Elementary, which our children attended. Many of the schools in the 92127 zip are nearly new, having just been built with the special taxes in that zip code. Enjoy the schools, but be prepared to pay a higher property tax. Well worth it, if you are benefitting from the new schools. regards, Paul

HI Barb, thanks for the question. I don't know all the best schools in San Diego. San Diego is a big place but I do know Rancho Santa Fe and my daughter attended The Rancho Santa Fe school in the Village through 8th grade and I can tell you that she got a Great primary education very attentive teachers and small classroom size. Rowe school has been rebuilt from the ground up since then and it is state of the art so I don't believe you can find a better K-8 public school. http://www.rsfschool.net/

Tory Pines is the local high school and if you choose to live in the Rancho Santa Fe area this is the public school your ninth grader would attend. http://www.tphs.net/

San Deguito High in Encinitas http://www.sduhsd.net/ I did not have a good experience with San Deguito and I do not recommend it for your teen.

There are several private schools in the area. Christian, Santa Fe Christian, http://www.sfcs.net/Pages/default.aspx

Catholic, http://www.cathedralcatholic.org/ depending upon your faith

Bishops school in La Jolla http://www.bishops.com/

I hope this helps. I have been the RSF neighborhood for the past 16 years and I love it here!!

Best Regards Barb.

Hi Barb,

Well that really depends... There are nice schools all over San Diego County. Some people think RSF is great. Some people love Poway, Coronado, and Cardiff. The real kicker is where do you want to live? Each of these communities are completely different cultures. I am familiar with all of these areas and can help you find an area you want to call "home". Feel free to call me anytime and we can talk in further detail! I also suggest checking out greatschools.org

Hi Barb-

Here is a link from my site that has all of the API scores for the schools in the Rancho Santa Fe area- http://www.hiatt.co/schools/ . Additionally, there are links for the School Accountability Report Cards, which go into further detail.

Many of the communities fall under the school boundaries for the Rancho Santa Fe School district, where R. Roger Rowe is the elementary and middle school. Other communities in the Rancho Santa Fe area fall under the Solana Beach Elementary School district and San Dieguito High School District. In which case Solana Santa Fe Elementary and Earl Warren Middle School are the default primary and middle schools. The default high school for those properties in the San Dieguito High School District area is Torrey Pines High School with San Dieguito Academy and Canyon Crest Academy is determined via lottery selection. For more information of the schools for each community please visit http://www.hiatt.co/ .

I personally give the most weight to the high school scores since college admission boards only consider high school performance for admission. If you have any questions regarding schools, and properties in the area I would be happy to assist you in the process.

Cheers-

HI Barbara,

Check out the Poway school district. It is the best school district in San Diego.

I was just boating in the Detroit Lakes last month. I miss the mid-west, but you are going to love San Diego! Please let me know if I can do anything else for you. My contact information is below. Have a great night!
