We live close in to "uptown" Charlotte - 2 miles in fact - in Dilworth, Charlotte's oldest neighborhood. The area is historic and wonderful - close to everything and quiet w/ a ton of charm. We are within Mecklenburg Co schools and zoned for Eastover Elementary, Alexander Graham Middle and Myers Park High School. All are said to be wonderful schools. SO many private options await you as well - about 15K average per year. Charlotte Country Day School, Charlotte Latin, Providence Day School and Trinity Day School are some of the best around.

I live in Gaston County (15 minutes away from the airport) and my children go to Gaston Christian School. There are many private schools around the Charlotte area. There is also Gaston Day School, that might be of interest to you.. Check out the public schools and their report cards on my website http://www.allentate.com/jenniferglass.

Good Luck! And, hope to see you around Charlotte or the surrounding area! Let me know if I can be of assistance.

Hello Brett,
I suggest that you look in South Charlotte, Matthews and Union County for great schools. For more information on these schools go to the Education Page of my website at http://www.CarolinaSmallTownLiving.com. Let me know if you need more information.

Myers Park High school was ranked as 34th in the country of the United States. I believe it is a good high school but the American education is failing our children. (enough of that) However, you may find that getting into the Myers Park school district may be more of a challenge. The private schools run 15-18K for high school and are very competitive. You should check out http://www.greatschools.net and http://www.schoolmatters.com these I have found to be very useful tools.

Best of luck

The best high school in all of the Charlotte area is Myers Park High School--particularly the International Baccluarate program. The IB program at Myers Park HS is the best in the world, and thats a fact.

Hi Brett,
Since you did say within 30 miles of Charlotte, just about 10 miles of Charlotte city limits (South) in a nice town called Fort Mill, SC; they have the best reputation for the schools overall. The State of SC also has report cards on the schools as well, with the "No student left behind" program, it holds teachers and the school systems accountable for the education of our youth. Fort Mill is located in York County, SC.
please check out http://www.sciway.net. This website has almost anything you would want to know about the area. Also, you can go to the Fort Mill School District Website for reports, ect. http://www.fort-mill.k12.sc.us.
If you decide you would like to look at the Fort Mill or other areas of York County, please feel free to contact me for more information. my email is "buyhomesfromkim@gmail.com"

Thank you for the opportunity to tell you more about our town!

Union County has many of the best public schools in NC. Six of the County's schools have been recognized as Honor Schools of Excellence. To put this in perspective, 3.4% of all the NC public schools received this recognition. In Union County, 17% of the schools were identified as Schools of Excellence. Additionally, Union county is very convenient to South Charlotte, Ballantyne and other areas of interest. Taxes are also lower in Union County than in Mecklenburg County.

If you are willing to be as far north as Mooresville we have two excellent school systems: The Mooresville Graded Schools and the south Iredell County schools just north and west of Mooresville along Lake Norman. I can send you more information! Many of my clients have moved here just because of the schools.

Union County is just Southeast of Charlotte and can boast many desireable schools. In fact Union Co. is the 13th fastest growing county nationally due in large part to the school system. I would be happy to help you as I am a past Union County Public School Employee (7 years).

On this website is a link for "Edulog" . All you have to do is put in an address and it will give you the school assignment . I would recommend you do this prior to purchasing. Let me know if I can help.

NC keeps "report cards" on all the schools. See web reference.

Please keep in mind many areas of North Carolina are growing very quickly and some counties are barely keeping up with building new schools and converting to alternate schedules such as year round schooling. Consequently there are many reassignments as someone has to go to the new schools. So please keep that in mind and discuss the school assignments with your Real Estate agent in this light.
