Good morning, Melissa
If you have not found what you are looking for, you might want to read the Trulia Real Estate Blog "What are the best Schools in Charlotte?"… There is good data and info there on public, charter and private Charlotte area schools, including school district maps and school attendance zone look-ups by address for Cabarrus and surrounding counties. If you appreciate this answer, please give it a thumbs up, or if this was the most helpful answer, please say thanks with a best answer click.

Definitely 28277 (Ballantyne) area. Any school in that zip code is safe.

Dear Melissa:

My children attend these schools, so I can confidently say 28117, besides we enjoy a very low tax rate and insurance in this area compared to others nearby.
I will be happy to email info on available homes in this area if you are interested.

Best regards,

I'm biased, but you can also read reviews on great schools mentioned below. We have a home for sale in Providence Springs area just listed if you are interested in this area.

There is not 1 zip code that has the best. Which is confusing. Check out or

If your children are high school age and preparing for college, my opinion is that NC has better state colleges and universties than SC.

I have just moved to Charlotte and everyone talks about how the living cost is cheaper here and that real estate has not gone up much over the past years. All I can say is don't believe everything you hear. If you are looking for public schools in Mecklenburg county (Charlotte) stay in the areas 4 and 5. Union county has a good reputation, but it was too far out for me and traffic keeps getting worse.

Good luck.

I live work and live in 29708. Fort Mill has award winning schools. Gold Hill Elemanty won the National Blue Ribbion award for last year. Fort Mill High won the award a few years back. You can't go wrong with any of the schools in the Fort Mill/ Tega Cay area. The schools are the reason I moved here in the first place and many other people are finding that out as well and moving here because of the schools. It's a great area and only 30 min. from Charlotte and 20 min. from the airport. If you would like more info. I would be happy you out. E-mai me at cell. 803-487-2357 or check out our web site, Good luck.

My suggestion is actually not in Charlotte, but a small town right outside of Charlotte, maybe 15 miles away...Fort Mill, SC. Zip code is 29715. Won't find much better. Lower SC Taxes, Lower Cost of Living, Less stress, less crime....need I say anymore??? :) Let me know if you are planning to move within the next 6 months and I'll be glad to send you our complimentary relocation kit filled with lots of information on Charlotte and york count, sc.
If I can help you further, please don't hesitate to contact me.
