If you are looking at public schools, Garfield in the central district ( feared as a " really bad neighborhood") and Roosevelt have more merit scholars than Mercer Island , Bellevue and the richest the suburban schools. Both of the school jazz bands are accepted to compete at the Ellington jazz competition in NYC each year. Guess who comes in 1st, 2nd or 3rd? If your child has a gift, have them tested and then choose your school.

Ray is correct. Depending on what you value more may push you to favor one school over the other. Of course, there are options outside of public schools that have also very prestigious reputations. Having many public school teachers within my reach, we can certainly get to the bottom in finding out what works best for you and your family. Best of luck.

Which high school is best depends on your what you're looking for. Roosevelt has a good reputation, but other schools have won praise for their music or science groups. For example, Garfield High has a reputation for music & jazz --Quincy Jones attended Garfield High School. Cleveland High School has a great robotics club. It would be worthwhile to investigate several Seattle high schools as there really isn't one 'best' high school.

The surrounding neighborhoods are: Roosevelt, Greenlake, Ravenna, Bryant, View Ridge, Wedgwood and a number of others within the school boundaries.
