As a parent of school aged children in the city, I cannot wait for this to happen. The process for change has been long and stressful. If the plans do not promote neighborhood schools my family and I are planning to leave the city and relocate to a town that does. From a real estate standpoint I imagine we may see prices increase in areas that have higher ranking schools immediately if we do move towards neighborhood schools. However, I also hope that neighborhood schools will strengthen all schools across the city through stronger community presence and think eventually those immediate increases due to dchool zones will level out.

That is definitely a good idea.
