We will be moving to the DC area in the summer. I am interested in my children attending George Mason High School. Is this zip code 22043?

Or how does the school district draw the boundaries for attendance here?

Dear Jay:
there are other properties in other zip codes which you can sent your children to "this" and better schools per statistics published by the county and other organizations available to all on the internet. (keep in mind what your needs are). I also do trustee and bank sales in addition to forclusures.

I would be happy to give you those zip codes with homes up to $550K free at no charge.
at your conveience, please sent me an e-mail.

Here are the GM high school homes for sale. A lot of good comments below. One challenge is that so many "listing agents" are pathetic and do not include the school info in the listings. So searching by school district such as my link below might not show ALL homes for sale in that school district. Any of these agents or myself could make sure you do not miss any opportunity for homes for sale in that school district by working around the sloppy or incomplete listing data.

Shelley,

Seems you have been doing your homework which is commendable. As many of my colleagues have suggested you can verify the school boundaries for individual properties at http://www.fccps.org/admissions/addressverify.htm

If it's of interest to you..I am happy to set you up on an automated e-mail with properties suiting your needs and you will not have to spend a bunch of time looking up individual homes. I am very familiar with the housing stock in the area and would love to help you.

Kind Regards,

Shelly,

The school zip is mostly the 22046 area but has a few surrounding zip codes that fit within the City boundaries. I lived and worked int he City for 9+ years and know it well. Two of my children went through the City schools. When you come to the DC area I would be happy to show you around.

If you want to investigate the boundrary lines you can go to the City website.

If your interest is mainly in the International Baccalaureate program, featured in George Mason High school, then there are two other possibilities worth considering. One is Washington - Lee High in Arlington ( Zip codes 22201 and 22205, mainly ). Another high school in the area with an established IB program is JEB Stuart.

The Fairfax County Public Schools Web site is exceptionally informative, and well worth exploring. It has a feature where one may input a street address in Fairfax County and get school information. Try searching our Web site, http://www.betterhomesva.com, and looking for available homes for sale that have a "FX" prefix. This Web site also has my contact information.

Shelley,

George Mason High School is the only high school serving the City of Falls Church, which is primarily located in the 22046 zip code, but there are some homes located in the 22042 and 22044 zip codes that are within the city limits.
My kids currently attend the Falls Church City Schools, including George Mason, and when I was making the decision of which house to choose, I called the Falls Church City school system, gave them my prospective address, and had them confirm that the house I liked was in fact located within the city limits. You really need to be careful, as the city's border's are irregular, and it is not always easy to tell if a house is in the city or one of the surrounding jurisdictions.
Let me know if you have any questions, I'd love to help you relocate to "The Little City"

It can be a bit confusing, because Falls Church City and greater Falls Church are neighboring communities each with their own high schools. George Mason High School is located in 22043. However, GMHS serves the incorporated Falls Church City with zip codes 22046, 22042, and a small group of homes in 22044.

As Colin shared with us, there is a home currently listed on 2003 Leonard Rd in Falls Church, VA 22043 that states its high school as George Mason High, but I believe that is an error. To verify whether an address is in the George Mason High School district, this site may help: http://www.fccps.org/admissions/addressverify.htm

So, Falls Church City is serviced by George Mason High School, and greater Falls Church is serviced by Falls Church High, Marshall High, and Stuart High. Hope this helps.

Shelley,

Looks like you are doing your homework in advance of your move. George Mason High School is largely made up of residents in the 22046 zip code, but you will also find homes in the 22043, 22042, 22044 zips, as shown in the current listings provided. (included only to demonstrate these facts).

Any agent you choose to help you will be able to search by school district if you instruct them to do so. Though you and your agent will certainly want to verify the accuracy of the listing information.

As a side note, my recommendation to folks relocating to the area is to rent first in order to give yourself more time to get acclimated and determine your neighborhood of choice. See my recent post linked to below.

Hi Shelley -

George Mason High School, Falls Church City's high school, is for residences in the City's 22046 zip code and in the City's 22042 zip code.

The City's school website can offer additional assistance: http://www.fccps.org/

Hi Shelley,

George Mason HS is in the 22043 zip code. There are actually 3 high schools in the immediate area. Aside from George Mason, you'll also be able to choose between McLean HS and George Marshall HS. Marshall is just a couple of minutes up the road. Depending on where you choose to live, these are all good schools.

Good luck, and let me know if I can answer any other questions for you.

I do believe it is in the George Mason High School district, however, I would advise you to check with the school system to be sure. The zip code is 22046.
