We live in Williamsburg and have one son who attended Toano Middle School last year. This coming year both of our sons will be attending the new Hornsby Middle School which is opening this year. Our school district ( Williamsburg/ James City County) just closed one middle school ( James Blair) and redistricted many of the neighborhoods. Many principals and teachers are moving as well. So be aware that Hornsby Middle won't show up in any of the tests results or rankings and that the recent staff moves will have an impact on school results.

Hi Barbara,

Here's another resource for you to use to compare schools, SOL's, and read parent feedback as well. But as John previously mentioned, York County offers some of the best schools in Virginia, as well as Williamsburg too.

Berkeley & Hornsby are two Williamsburg/James City schools, as well as Toano in north James City County.

If you have not yet contacted a local Realtor in our area to assit you in your new home search, and if you'd like to receive a list of properties currently on the market, please feel free to email anytime and I'll be happy to assist you.

Hello Barbara:

I think you will find that the schools system in York County is rated among the best in all of Virginia. To say one school is better than another is very subjective and many factors would need to be considered and some of these factors may count more than others in your consideration.

A good site for information on any area and the schools in them is http://www.city-data.com.
Try this site to obtain info.
