Relocating can be a large headache when you are moving a short distance within the same city, especially when children, their schools and any related activities. If you have any family or friends in the area, you may wish to discuss their familiarity with different schools and their assigned areas. Lacking these support groups, then you will want to contact the county school office for a list of the schools, their boundaries, and any special programs the school provides. Lacking a family/friend support, visit where you will be leaving and check with some of the neighbors as to their opinion of the neighborhood schools. As children are being assigned to the neighborhood school with space nearest to where they live, take a drive through the area and see if the homes are what you are looking for.

Schooling is such a personal option! I recommend you go online and search Pinellas County schools and read up on the schools and their test grades etc. There are great public and private schools throughout the area. As for most things in life you get what you put into most things. There are also options in the County as we have Fundamental Schools and Magnet Programs. The Fundamental schools must be applied for and are on a space available basis. These are more challenging scholastically and require parent involvement and have stricter rules. There is no tolerance for bad behavior, drugs etc. You will get kicked out. The magnet programs are such things as schools for Gifted individuals, and for high schools Premed, Culinary Arts, Vet Med, Teaching etc programs. All these type of programs need to be applied for. The regular schools are on a closest to home basis now. There used to be another Program called Choice but this is finished. As you can see there are lots of options to consider.

Will you be working in the St. Pete area is that what draws you there? I know this is a lot to think about so if you have any additional questions please feel free to contact me directly!

Schools are of course a very important issue when moving to a new location. Are you looking to be in a public school or a private school? This is your first choice, once you figure this out you can than start to look at your location.

I would like to direct you to the Pinellas County School website. From here you will be able to find the school that is right for your children. This website will provide the criteria of the specific school, as well as the most recent grade of that school. Once you decide which is best for your children I can than help you pick the right location to move to. http://www.pinellas.k12.fl.us/

Schools in Saint Petersburg are based on the zone in which you live. Keep this in mind when you are looking for the right school for your children.

I hope this information is helpful for you.
