We are moving to Oklahoma, and our oldest is starting kindergarten in the Fall. What is the best elementary school to help her excel?

And in the long term, which middle school and high school combination would you recommend? Thanks.

HI Aaron !
We moved here from Longmont Co. almost 2 years ago and you will be VERY happy with the schools in Edmond. I have three children in the district that go to North High School, Sequoyah middle school and Centennial elementary. In the Long run, Edmond North and Memorial are both amazing High Schools, and the feeder schools that they draw on are also very good. Parents and teachers take the education of our children very seriously here!
When choosing a school for your child, you will have some very strong choices depending on what you are looking for. You have the option of a smaller elementary like Russell Dougherty where children from all over Edmond attend, classes are small, but it is not a neighborhood school. You have Northern Hills which is an excellent elementary, Cross Timbers, Centennial, and a host of other schools that you will find meet excellent standards for education.
Good luck in your search!

Aaron,
I have to agree with most the Agents. Oakdale, Deer Creek and all the Edmond schools are great. You moving to a great area. It is great to do a little research about each school district to see which is best for your child. The website are very informative and help you visualize where your child will succeed.

I assume you are moving to Edmond. Edmond has wonderful schools. You might also look into the Oakdale school district. Its near Edmond and actually feeds into Edmond Memorial High School. I attended Oakdale through Middle school then went to Edmond Memorial HS, and had great experiences at both. Here is the website for Oakdale schools: http://www.oakdale.org/

There are lots of good schools here. We sent both our girls to Russell Dougherty and loved it.

Hi Aaron! As you can see from the previous posts there are numerous sites you can visit to find info about Oklahoma schools. It looks like you were interested in Edmond,OK area schools. I have 2 daughters, both adults now, who attended Deer Creek Schools all 12 years. Deer Creek is an excellent and highly regarded school district located just west of the Edmond area with a combination of rural and suburban attributes. Based on personal experience I would strongly recommend you check out the Deer Creek area and schools. I am an independent Realtor/Broker with over 30 years experience in this area. Would love to help you find a new home here in central Oklahoma!

Happy New Year!

Edmond has great schools from the elementary to the high school. Be sure to check also if there is a pre-K program if you have any younger children and then they will become familiar with the school when they start full-time. My children started at Cross Timbers and then to Sequoyah and Edmond North and felt they were prepared to continue their education. Would love to help you find a home in Edmond - great place to live! Have lived here for 27 years

If anyone has the option of private schools, the Westminster School in Crown Heights, is one of the finest pre-school, elementary and middle schools in the Southwest. Our son, very fortunately, was there for 10 years, and formed a superb educational foundation! We're very proud, he is now in the D.O. Medical School for Oklahoma State University, in Tulsa.
