Hello Naved, This is quite the loaded question for it can be answered on soo many levels. Are you looking for the schools with the best SAT scores, Graduation Rates, how much each district spends on each student, crime rates within those high schools?? I'm sure you're a new parent looking to move to a town which has the "Best School" system, correct?
Here's a quick link for all schools in NJ put out by the NJ State Dept of Education, http://education.state.nj.us/rc/rc08/index.html

Also, New Jersey Monthly magazine put out a report of the top High Schools in New Jersey a few months back.. http://njmonthly.com/articles/towns_and_schools/highschoolra…
Not only do these links offer valuable information, but it can lead to bragging rights also!

I hope these links have helped you, If you have any further question please don't hesitate to contact me.. Thank You,

If you check the Star Ledger, it gives a list of all the districts in the state. The top districs in the state right now are Montgomery Township, Princeton Township, West Windsor/Plainsboro, Homdell in Monmouth County. Millburn is also a great district. But check the Star Ledger - it's nj.com. If I can be of further assistance, please e-mail me at dianne.senko@prufoxroach.com
I look forward to hearing from you.

I purchased land and build my home in Plainsboro for one reason; WW-Plainsboro School system. I did research on School systems in NJ about 5 years and WW-P school system was one of the best in the country.

WOW, this is really a loaded question Naved. The BEST schools in NJ or the BEST schools for your children? I am a firm believer that the best schools are not for all children however from a property value perspective the best areas will attract a certain buyer pool.

In my opinion I believe you first need to assess your purpose. Is it your children or for equity growth? If it is for the children then you must assess your childs ability to learn and their personality i.e. I live in West Windsor and the top School districts in Central Jersey are as follows:
1.) West Windsor - Plainsboro (Mercer and S. Middlesex County townships share this school district)
2.) Montgomery
3.) Princeton
4.) Hopewell TWP (Mercer County)
5.) Washington Twp (Mercer County)

Consistently they are on top of the charts. In 2004 the West Windsor-Plainsboro School District was rated #1 in New Jersey. We have a lot of Type-A personality families, large Asian, Indian, Jewish & Italian demographics, with @60% with 1 stay at home parent, $143k as the median household income (last years number), and a very active PTSA in all the schools. Our schools are focused in acedemics and are balanced with the arts, sports, 4-6 language classes, community envolvement programs and so much more.

The other 4 districts I mentioned have very similar programs and are all public schools I am referring. Private schools are a different story but let me help you.

There are community reports and comparison tools online where you can compare these top districts with each other and others in the state. Below you will find a link to the community tools on my website. Play around with them and use the USPS.Com site to find the right Zip codes to the areas you think you may have interest. Then plan an area tour with a realtor to get familiar with what each has to offer you.

The link below should take you to the SCHOOL REPORT... REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR ZIP CODES

Bergen County has 5 of the 10 top high schools in New Jersey and almost all the school districts in Bergen County are rated high. Remember the better the school system or the better perception of a school system means you are going to pay more for a home. Consider private schools too.

Being a teacher by trade there are many things to consider, but I think your best bet is to decide what type of system you are looking for and match that with the community and price ranges for housing. I am a firm believer that statistics are not always indicated ACCURATELY when searching online. Good luck !

I know that Fair Lawn, Bergen County is graded as on of the best schools there. I lived there for a while -- they really have great schools.

Hi Naved, have you checked out greatschools.net? They have ratings and reviews of schools submitted by parents. I placed a link below for your reference. I have heard great things about the site.
