Jacquelyne, I advise you to go to this website and check every county in the area of Ft. Meade (Anne Arundel, Prince Georges, Howard are the closest): http://www.mdreportcard.org/ you may have to copy and paste into a search URL. This is the state report card for all counties. You can then click on each county and there are 4 tabs with pertinent information. Go through all 4 tabs by clicking on each. You will be amazed at the differences between the counties and individual schools within a county. Of all the surrounding counties, you will find Howard # 1, Anne Arundel # 2 and Prince Georges # 3 (I am only including those counties that is not their state wide ranking.) Within each county, you have the excellent, the best, the good and the really poor. Some counties have more poor performing schools than others. Some counties have poor performing schools that rate higher than the highest of some other counties. All 3 counties offer similar housing. and similar pricing if one knows where to look. Montgomery County public school system has much better test scores and graduation rate than some of the surrounding counties.

I'm not personally too familiar with the Fort Meade area, however greatschools.net has been a great source of reference for me and my clients as it pertains to schools.
