The Pleasanton schools are excellent as noted in several of the answers. However, you may not find a suitable rental in Pleasanton. I would also like to suggest you investigate San Ramon- a neighboring area with equally rated schools. The San Ramon Valley School District has top rated schools K-12, and the city of San Ramon has more rentals options available. When it is time to buy, you will find there are several towns in the district that are as sought after as Pleasanton. Check out San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, the Daugherty Valley area- all within 10 minutes of Pleasanton. I mention this because you have not indicated where you will be working and in the "Bay Area" commute patterns are very important. All the above mentioned areas would provide roughly the same commute as Pleasanton and have they same family friendly lifestyle. I think you will love living in any of these areas- enjoy the adventure of moving to California!

Congratulations on your move into our area! We love Pleasanton, CA. Our daughter is attending Harvest Park Middle School and she loves her teachers and the amazing programs. All of the Pleasanton schools are rated 10 out 10.

We have put together all of the Pleasanton schools and their School Accountability Report Card (SARC) reports on one page for your convenience.

Hello Arpana,

At http://www.livepleasantonca.com/school-apis/ there is a link to school scores for Pleasanton schools long wiht hot links to details 2009-10 Accountability Progress Reportsin (APR) for each school.

I do have a relocation package that can be emailed if you choose to contact me directly.

You're doing the right thing by renting first. Years ago when I was a corporate executive relocating I moved into a metro area where associates told me I should live. I soon discovered that another local community was more 'me' and fit my lifestyle better. It was costly to sell and move within a year, but necessary.

If you have any questions about the area I'm nere to help!

Kindest Regards,
Vickie Nagy

I agree with Rebecca, there are some great options for schools in Pleasanton. Schools are one of the biggest reasons, according to many of my clients, that they chose to move to Pleasanton. My kids have gone through Walnut Grove, Harvest Park, and Amador High and they are wonderful schools. However I can't say anything negative about any of the schools here. They are all very good.

Here is a link to the Pleasanton Unified School District and their current mapping of which neighborhoods
track to which schools.

Pleasanton schools are all good. We have one elementary school that teaches in English and Spanish, Valley View. We have open enrollment in our high schools to allow students to choose between the two. Do you want your children to be able to walk to school? Will they partake in after school activities? Those questions may help you decide where to find a home.
