I recommend city-data.com to my clients... COJ can only tell you crime info... city-data has all kinds of information... demographics, home value, how many rental vs home owners, what zip codes are close by, etc... it gives a complete picture of the area so you can then decide what is important to you... Both Donald and Myrna are correct... A Realtor can loose their license by answering that question the reason is because of what Myrna said...

I grew up in Arlington and have lived there on an off every since... I know the area and can help you find a home that fits your needs and desires... Arlington has some great homes at amazing prices... Jacksonville is a little different than other big cities... each area (Arlington, Westside, Southside, Riverside, Intracoastal, etc...) is like a mini city filled with the good and the bad just like any other city in America...

Paul, As an out of state buyer moving to Jacksonville, I recommend you search http://www.coj.net this is the cities offical web site and you can find all the information you need. Realtors will not give out the kind of information you are looking for. It is unethical and we could lose our license for it. As a State Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser and a REMAX Realtor, I know the local market very well. Please email or call me if you have questions 904-962-8089 dprice@agentlink.net

Hi Mr. Locigno,

The recommendation to contact the Sheriff's office is one way to get the "safety" answer you are looking for, and I also I tell my customers is to drive around the neighborhoods you are considering and checking on line. For schools, you should check out the Duval County Schools at the link below to get more information on that subject. As most Realtors are transaction agents, they are not permitted to discuss these types of neighborhood issues as it not only places us in a position to be legally responsible should they be wrong, it could also hurt a seller whose potential buyer may not consider their home because of misinformation. (We do not know everything about every neighborhood and everyone has a different idea of what is "safe") Buyers are instructed to personally investigate this as well as schools and whether there are offenders in the area as well. I hope this is helpful. If you would like to discuss your search privately, please feel free to contact me at myrna@myrnagatenby.com.

Hi Paul,

The web site in the one answer is for the city of Jacksonville which is an excellent site for obtaining info. Another site for schools is http://www.duvalschools.org which will give you a good overview for schools. The area is close to easy access to the interstate, shopping, beaches and Mayport NAS. Arlington Hills is a well established community of single family homes for the first time home buyer in the Jacksonville area. Contact me for a list of available homes in this area or relocation info. I can be reached toll free at 877-331-3359 or email yourrealtor@att.net .
All the best

Go to http://www.coj.net, click on "all depts", scroll down to "SheriffsOffice" and click on crime statistics. Put in the property address and draw your own conclusions. Stats are for the last six months and within a half mile radius.
