Hi Wallerones-

Have you already gone through these areas and spent time in them? Ultimately it depends on what kind of lifestyle you're looking for. The best thing to do if you're not familiar with the area, is go there and hang out and see how it feels.

I'd be happy to share more info if you like.

Thanks!

I'm partial to Forrest Knolls area, just west of Twin Peaks because I grew up there and there are good schools like Clarendon Elementary.

With that said, maybe you should consider moving South of SF like San Bruno or Millbrae?

Just a thought.

The short answer to your question is "Yes"....I can't really tell by your question but if you are asking about the neighborhoods that surround Buena Vista and Dolores Park. There are many neighborhoods and schools between those two areas. The Bigger question is whether San Francisco is a good place to raise a family. That question is highly subjective. Coming from Santa Rosa which is clearly family oriented and small knit and comparing it to the city with over 800K residents. There is no doubt that your children will grow up differently than they would elsewhere. That is evident by the testimony of numerous friends/colleagues that are Native San Franciscans. In my opinion, San francisco is a Great place to raise a family depending on what your expectations are. Largely your experience in San francisco will depend on where you live.

Dolores Park was known as "Needle Park" over a decade and a half ago, but since then the residents and city have done wonders in cleaning up the park and I think that is behind them now. Now they are breaking ground for a big playground in the center...so my guess is the local residents of Noe Valley, Etc...are concerned because now as homeowners with children, they had a vested interest in cleaning up that reputation

Buena Vista Park on the other hand is a mixed bag. I would suggest you check yelp review and go check it out for yourself. It is very nice but small and has some odd legends attached...
