I have no questions, but am a former student of the Birdilee Bright Elementary School. In my
day...(kindergarten in 1949)...it was known as 36th Street School, and was a huge Victorian-style structure. I have the fondest memories of Miss Farmer, and Mrs Garrett, who taught me in kindergarten. In those days, things were lovely enough in that area that I walked to school each day, and waited for my mother, (a divorced, working woman), to pick me up from the school's Extended Day Care. Mrs. Holt was the school orincipal. Mrs. Lee was in charge of the day-care, and she and Mrs. Campbell...who taught me to knit!...were the kindest, and most extraordinary women in my memory. Such dignity and refinement! Now that I am nearly 64 years old, I look back at 36th Street School with much affection and nostalgia.

Below is a link to a magazine called Reminisce ( Memories of the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's - Reminisce Magazine ) that I get and I thoroughly enjoy. I thought you might enjoy it too. Click on the link below and see for yourself. Take Care. Cindy Vedder
