Hi,

I personally like the magnet schools the best for middle schools. Durham School of the Arts (a magnet middle & high school, 6th through 12th grade.) is a great school. My kids went there. The magnet schools have different themes like math, science or arts for example. They also provide bus transportation so you could live anywhere in Durham county. You will have to enter your kids in the lottery for these schools.

Here is the link to the Durham Public Schools, http://www.dpsnc.net. Once you decide on the schools you are most interested in your kids attending, you can search for homes by schoold district. If Trulia doesn't give you that option, let me know and I will send you homes within the school districts that you like.

I am most familiar and favor Riverside and Jordon high schools. There are specialty middle and high schools that should be considered.
Call if you need a search set up for your use. Pat - 919-452-3416.

Hi,
Durham is going through a renaissance as are the public schools. A lot depends on the particular needs of your kids and how involved you want to be as a parent.

Here is the link for Greatschools in Durham--these are the high schools. Change to middle schools and make sure that you choose a school that sends kids from the middle school you choose to the high school you choose. The highest rated are City of Medicine and Durham School of the Arts though they aren't as highly rated as some schools in other systems. Again, it depends a lot on your kids and your involvement.

Look on the Tobacco Road between Duke University and UNC. Happy to help as a realtor who helps the academic market.
