Thanks for contacting us here on Trulia and congratulations on your decision to move to Irvine.

Irvine has some of the highest ranked elementary schools in the state. The best ranked elementary school by API score is Turtle Rock Elementary School, but all of the elementary schools in Irvine are all great!

Please see these links for more info:……

I grew up in Irvine and attended Irvine schools myself from elementary through high school so I am very familiar with the area and the school system. I just helped a family from China purchase a property in Quail Hill, and their most important criteria was also the best education for their child.

I would be happy to help guide you through your home search. Feel free to contact me directly at (310) 717-1321 or with more information regarding your budget and search criteria and I will forward you a list of properties that are currently available, and set up viewings for any you are interested in.

I live and work in Irvine for the past 8 years. As everyone has stated, Irvine really is great for kids. Check out City of Irvine's classes and programs. There is always something going on for families, tons of events. Plus, Irvine and Tustin Ranch have wonderful parks designed for little kids in mind. Plus, you are just a few miles from the beach. I suggest you focus on the schools in Irvine and then look for a home. Visit the schools, ask tons of questions and ask other parents for input. For example, University HS starts at 7:30 am 4 days a week. If I had a choice, I would not send my kids there due to the early hours. (Teens need sleep!). However, University HS is an EXCELLENT school, very competitive.

Think about how close you want to be to schools so when your kids are in middle and high, do you want them walking home?

Make sure YOU personally verify the attendance lines. Go to IUSD's website and double check that the home you want to buy is in the zone for the schools you want, including middle and hs. You could be one street away from a high school but have to travel 4-5 miles to another hs because of the attendance line. Do you reply on realtors, you must check yourself. The attendance can change so it is up to you to verify.

Best of luck to you and your family and welcome to Irvine!

I encourage my Clients to reviewing the information and parent reviews about each school on Its a great way to get a balanced opinion about a school vs. relying on the opinion of one or two people. You can also use this resource to learn more about the individual schools - diversity, class size, etc.

If you need a resource to help you find homes for sale or rent, you can set up your own account on You will get direct access to the multiple listing service and be provided with up-to-date information about homes vs. relying on the out-dated information you often find on other real estate sites.

Hope that helps!
