Be careful with sites such as great schools. They base most of their rankings off standardized test scores and there is more to a school than testing. In LA there are so many choices and most especially in higher grades have nothing to do with location. Magnet programs, charter schools, and academies are some examples
Having 2 kids in Lausd I am well versed in the labyrinth of opportunities. I can help point in the right direction for matching your home location with school choices.

Dear Jason,

It would be easier if you gave more details on age, grades etc. For liability's reasons, most agents will not point any specific school and it is individual's criteria that will determine at the end.
I have many requests to get families in the Las Virgenes school district, which includes Calabasas, Agoura Hills and more. The area west of Woodland Hills, which is Ventura county.
Please contact me for any question about this area as I work in SFV & Ventura county for many years.

Good luck and I hope it is helping,

Dear Jason,
The great schools site is a good one to start with. Generally Speaking, Beverly Hills,Culver City and Santa Monica are considered good districts by parents I know, in Los Angeles. Culver City and Beverly Hills are Independent, so it's possible to make changes in the district as opposed to the huge LA Unified district school system. You might also consider Private Schools many of which are excellent in Los Angeles.

It's very important to inspect thouroughly your school selections nowadays either private or public ones. If you select one, get involve in the scool. This is where your child will be nurturing most of the day. If you are self-employed and have flexible time, have you considered online school? Othewise, you could check this site: http://www.greatschools.org

Hi Jason:

There are many great schools and areas in the Los Angeles area. What specifically are you looking for? Elementary, Middle or High schools? Are you looking to relocate here? Purchase or lease a property? Look for a positions at a school?

I have lived in Los Angeles all my life and know the areas and school districts pretty well.

There are regular schools, Charter Schools, Magnet Schools and private schools...many of which have great programs.

You can also go on the LAUSD website at http://notebook.lausd.net/schoolsearch/selector.jsp to search schools and their statistics.

There are also outlying school districts like Culver City, Santa Monica and Beverly Hills, which many have good schools.

It also depends upon the needs of your children. Feel free to give me a call to discuss this further in detail.

Good luck and all the best!

Valencia & Stevensonson Ranch have some of the best schools in the state. Within Santa Clarita most our public schools are California distinguished schools & some are even National Blue Ribbon and those are just the public schools.
Santa Clarita is a very safe, family community, that is clean & beautiful.

Realistically you have to look at what your budget is because usually the better the area then the better the schools. How old are your kids?
