New Jersey schools are some of the worst in the nation considering we pay nearly $16,000.00 per student we are rated lower than Louisiana or Florida that only pay 6-9,000.00 per student. Sparta has some of the highest taxes in this over taxed state. Sparta is great if you have a child with a sports brain not if the child can think. If you have a thinking child he or she wil be board. Go to a private or parochial schools. The public school looks good but it is overrated.

Where did YOU go to school, Molly? Your child will be 'board', huh?

Visit the NJ School report cards website at http://education.state.nj.us/rc/. I would also suggest contacting the schools directly and scheduling a tour of the school as well as a meet and greet with the principal. Your second grader would be going to Sparta Alpine School and they can be contacted at 973-729-3107. Your sixth grader would be going to the Sparta Middle School, their contact number 973-729-3151. I’d be happy to send you more information regarding our town and/or to take you on a tour of it if you’d like.

I would go to the nj department of education site for school report cards. See this link:

The answers that you get about this question will be very limited because it's illegal for real estate agents to do much of anything but refer you to somewhere else for more info. But really it is best to look at the reports and do your own research as opposed to getting information from a source that may be biased.

If you want to look at any homes in the Sparta area or have any other questions about the area please feel free to contact me anytime (973) 903-2862 email: rayerins@yahoo.com

There are several solid websites that you can use for school information. I like this one:
http://www.randolph-chester-homes.com/mischool/zip/07871/

The problem with someone just giving you an opinion is that it's just that, an opinion. What makes the school system "good" for you? Test scores? Special programs? A middle v junior high school?

On the website above, you can also get community information and compare areas.

By the way, I do service the Sparta area so if you need more information about an area, home or schools, please feel free to contact me.

Wishing you well in your search.
