We have two children who have attended Newton public schools since Kindergarten (Merriam Avenue and Halsted) and are currently in Newton High School. The public schools in Newton are fabulous, and the education provided is world class. The teachers care about the kids so much, it's apparent in everything they do, and school feels very much like an extended family. As a result, students are both challenged and nurtured, and encouraged to do their best and achieve their potential. Both of my children scored very highly on state standardized testing, and have excelled in a variety of Honors classes that have been made available to them. Their academic success is due in large part to the exceptional educational staff and faculty in the Newton public schools. There are numerous extracurricular activities in which students are encouraged to participate, from music, drama and the arts, to sports, robotics and science teams. These teams and clubs routinely do very well in competitions, and the H.S. science team has established a virtual dynasty over the past decade. Furthermore, the Newton H.S. SAT scores are the highest in Sussex county and also highest in the state for their district factor group of 30 schools. We could not be more pleased with the education and level of care and concern provided our children.
