Do you know that if a student from Montague goes to Port Jervis High School and graduates that they can attend ANY of the CUNY colleges?

If this is true then it could explain why some families are not joining the push for school of choice in Montague. Can anyone confirm whether or not this is the case? If it is, it sounds like a really good option for college bound Montague students.

As an addendum, it looks like CUNY would also be included in the pool of discounted New York State colleges and universities, as they offer a tuition break to New York State residents (not just NYC residents).

Right now, any Montague student graduating from Port Jervis High School is eligible to attend SUNY schools (NOT CUNY) as an in-state student, meaning, they would pay the same tuition as a New York State resident, a considerable savings. Of course, they have to apply to and be accepted by the specific SUNY institution.

If the recently signed contract with High Point Regional High School goes into effect, it will take 4 years, starting in September 2014 with the first freshman class, for all Montague students to transition to High Point. Therefore, one assumes there will still be 3 years worth of graduates from Port Jervis High School who will have this financial advantage should they chose and be accepted by a university in the SUNY system.

At this point in time, we do not yet know if Port Jervis will offer school choice to Montague students. If they do, Montague students who elect Port Jervis for their high school education would retain this financial advantage, as well as having the choice to attend a variety of schools in New Jersey, including High Point Regional High School.

Thank you for responding to my question. I did a little more research and found out that in September 2014 Montague high school aged students will be able to attend High Point Regional High School. The anticipated enrollment will be 28 students.I have attached the link that supports the commissioner's decision.
