Autism programs

Asked by heidileemahler, Grand Rapids, MI Mon Nov 26, 2012

I am curious to know more about the special ed programs for students with autism in the Grand Rapids area? Any and all neighborhoods will be considered. I am looking for a strong program that uses ABA as behavior interventions in the educational setting.

Hello Heidi,

The following link may be helpful:

http://www.kentisd.org/instructional-services/special-educat…

This is the website to the Kent Intermediate School District's Collaborative Autism Network. The contact on the website is Mike Ghareeb, who works for the ISD. It looks like if anyone can tell you about individual schools' efforts in educating students with ASD, it would be him. His email is michaelghareeb@kentisd.org. His phone number is 265-2303.

That's a good starting place. And if you don't find that helpful, I'd be happy to ask my mother, who happens to be a special education teacher with GRPS.

Good luck!
