Are the Elgin and Manor school districts improving, worth considering?

Yes, as Julie stated: with increase taxes comes better school's! Don't look for skyrocketing appreciation though.

The tax base in Elgin and Manor is increasing significantly so I would hope that that translates into an improving school district. They are building new schools (have to to handle all the new residents). They are not ranked the best in the area but look at the links I sent in last posting to help with that assessment. There is significant new construction in Elgin and Manor as Austin spreads to the east.

I am not an expert on Manor and Elgin ISDs, but have lived in Austin all my life. I think the development going on there is and will move those districts in the right direction, especially with I-30 running through the area. I would not put them on par with other semi-rural districts like Dripping Springs ISD and parts of Lake Travis ISD...of course price points there are generally quite a bit more than Manor or Elgin. Bastrop is probably closer to some of the better districts in town. You might find some useful information at either: http://www.schoolmatters.com/ or http://www.greatschools.net/. Good luck.
