I have three children who graduated from Smithtown High School and all went on to study at excellent (Ivy league) universities. They were well prepared at Smithtown. We found the teachers and staff to be excellent, supporting and very involved. There were plenty of challenging (AP level) classes, and activities and events coordinated to whatever level the children required. The support staff was excellent and cutting edge. I have never felt that Smithtown lacked anything that any other district on LI offered. It was always available for the students to be as involved as they wanted to be. The district is very competitive in the Intel and Siemens competitions, Business DECA competitions, Model UN programs, music and NYSMA programs, National Merit Scholarship programs, and other national competitions that you read about in the newspapers. In addition, there were always opportunities for extra help, or disabled services if the need arose. The district as a whole is extremely accommodating, which is not always the case in a large district. I highly recommend the Smithtown School District.... more
Just to set the record straight, This house was recently relisted on 3/2012 at $300,000 "as is"and has been vacant since 11/2008. It was a short sale back in 2008 with Washington Mutual who collapsed & a short sale could not be completed back then.
Chase took over from Washington Mutual but could never foreclose on the home since they never had the proper paper work. So in 4/2012 a buyer went into contract & a deal was negotiated with Chase to purchase the house at $290,000. The home closed on 9/25/12.... more
