Without knowing exactly what you're looking at it's hard to say with certainty. In the Upper East Side it's either a place that's available by the day for those vacationing in the city who want a little more than a hotel room. This is what I believe you're most likely looking at.

A vacation rental is usually rented for short term needs but anything can be negotiated. The purpose is for people visitng the area on vacation.

When someone rents out their apartment it usually by the day but there could be some by year or months.

I need a small studio by this weekend , a sublet for a year , $1500-$1800
I do not have good credit but I can afford to pay the monthly rent. My preference is in these areas lower east side , 14th street to 23rd st on the west side, or soho.
