craiglist is good, however beware of scammers collecting deposits without authority to rent homes. I had one of my listings falsely advertised for rent on craigs by some guy pretending to have access to my listing. Also owners in pre-foreclosure trying to rent to avoid foreclosure, collecting rent while not paying their mortgage. Apartment buildings usually have lower credit requirments and a quicker penalty & eviction clause in the lease if you start getting behind on rent.
You can contact a neighborhood Real Estate Office and ask if they have any 'leasing agents.' this would be someone who could do the search for you and is paid by the landlord, so no out of pocket to you.
