I have had a number of calls over the past week or two concerning ads people saw on craigslist showing rentals for my listings. Scammers are capturing information from agents listings and posting these ads to try and lure people into mailing security deposits and up front rental checks for properties. BEWARE! These scammers are out to take advantage of those too trusting. Never send money to anyone with out first meeting an owner or agent to view the property. Best of luck finding your new home!
Please beware of rentals that sound too good to be true - particularly if nobody can meet you at an office or at the property to show you. Do not send any deposits in the mail or by wire or any other form with the promise that they will send you the keys later. There are many scammers out there who take legitimate listings of homes for sale or rent and then "relist them" as a rental on Craigslist or other sites that allow the the public to create advertisements...then offer it at an "incredible" cost. They usually make some excuse as to why they can't meet with you in person and then want you to send them a deposit. You will never get your keys and your money will be gone.
