The term "townhouse" is used differently in different locations. I Manhattan and the brownstone neighborhoods of Brooklyn, it means an attached rowhouse, usually made of brownstone of limestone. This would be something originally one-family, but now most likely being used as a 2-family or even 3-family, though some are still used as a one-family. I see that you are in Queens. You may use the term there the way suburbs use it, which would be a condo in a development of multi-family townhouses. Where are you looking and what do you have in mind?

Be prepared for prices that will be much higher than renting in Springfield Gardens and the lack of many options. There is much to prepare and know. I strongly suggest you contact a broker soon. Good luck.
