Am I understanding this question correctly...
You need a place to rent for less than $2K a month without your being employed or without proof of your being employed?
Anyone in a position to lease you a place, be it an apartment or a house, is going to need proof of your employment to verify your ability to pay the rent. If you aren't employed due to accident/injury/disability/etc, but can provide a landlord with the proof of your ability to pay the rent, then make sure they understand your situation.
By your statement above it's unclear what help you need.
