are renters being discriminated because they have section8? I feel like I am I keep being offered the ughly houses.

Many landlords will only accept Section 8 as a last resort. That's why it seems that you are only being shown the "bottom of the barrel" properties. If a real estate agent is willing to work with you, he can make inquiries to rental properties in the MLS to see if they will take section 8. I got two section 8 tenants into apartments in nice areas in the last year by doing that.
